Omsk

Novogorod is one of the historic capitals of Russia, who became the most populous country in the Middle Ages. Its importance declined with the founding of St. Petersburg in the eighteenth century, but its historical legacy is still visible in its imposing Kremlin the River Volkhov and the hundreds of churches scattered through the streets.

The Kremlin is the main attraction of the city and its sturdy walls hide the beautiful Byzantine cathedral of Hagia Sophia , XI century, richly decorated inside. The other churches are mostly across the River. Further away from the center tend to have a dilapidated state.

also highlights the Sofiyskaya large square with its statue of Lenin, and the park Kremlevsky , which surrounds the walls of the Kremlin. To make something the best place are the bars next to the river beach. They are ideal to enjoy a beer watching the Russians swim, sunbathe or play volleyball in the sand as if they were in Benidorm.

In one day you can see perfectly the city and do not need to spend the night. If you think about sleep, as we did, a good place is the hotel Volkhov without doubt the best we had during the entire trip. Double with bath and full breakfast buffet cost us 2,700 rubles (68 euros). The registration of the visa is free.

next day with the tickets we had bought in St. Petersburg 042 we took the night train leaving at 21.20 to go to Moscow (2,800 rubles / 71 euros). It takes 8 hours and the train is modern, with plasma screen in the cabin. Our first companions were a young boy on a business trip that gibberish English with us, and an older woman who spoke only Russian.
