11th Anniversary Sayings

To go to Lake Baikal from Irkutsk morning we took a van (marshrutky) to Listvyanka , the nearest coastal town. Leave frequently throughout the day when full. The journey takes one hour and costs 100 rubles (2.5 euros).

That day was raining and freezing cold (7 degrees), so I always swim in the cold waters of Baikal leave it for another occasion. Despite inclement weather, the views of the world's deepest lake are breathtaking.

From Listvyanka out paths that can be made excursions through the woods with beautiful views of Lake Baikal in the background. We walked a couple of hours and when the cold came over we returned to town to have a hot tea.

then took a walk through the wooden houses Listvyanka, with a curious market in which smoked, dried and sold omul, a typical fish of Lake Baikal, fresh fish in the lake. There are also many souvenir stalls, selling a semi-precious stone in the area at a high price.

In the afternoon return to Irkutsk to collect the bags from the hotel and catch the overnight train to Ulan Ude .
