The California Poppy is the botanical species Eschsoltzia californica and belongs to the poppy family. The plant is common in all temperate zones of North and South, although as the name suggests is typical of the area of \u200b\u200bCalifornia. Plants are about 50 cm high, characteristic for its large yellow flowers. The parts used for medicine are the flowers and root.
chemical composition. Contains quinoline alkaloids, structurally similar to morphine but without its drawbacks. Some of these alkaloids are protopine, criptoprina or alocriptina. Furthermore, the plant contains flavone glycosides and rutoside or succinic acid.

- Nervous System: not forget that the California poppy belongs to the same family as opium (poppy) plant obtained morphine. The alkaloids of the California poppy are similar chemical structure to the phenanthrene alkaloids of opium poppy, but its intensity is much lower.
